My name is Giovanna Simpson, and I am the current Deputy Mayor of the Burnie City Council and work locally with SeaFM/7BU radio.
I am currently serving my second term as Deputy Mayor and have gained valuable experience in Local Government during this time. Within that role, I sit on the Burnie City Youth Council and other working groups.
My work on local radio also gives me an opportunity to celebrate and share the amazing place that is North-West Tasmania.
I was also previously an Electorate Officer for Gavin Pearce, and gained tremendous insight into what a hard-working local member can achieve for Braddon.
I have also been a small business owner, buying my business and running it as the Owner and Manager for 22 years. My business was in Burnie, with locations also in Devonport, Ulverstone and Smithton.
I have also been a Youth Worker and gained invaluable experience in working with young people and families across our community. I have worked in most Schools in the Braddon electorate which gave me a great insight into the issues impacting on our families and young people, including mental health awareness and support.
I currently sit on a variety of boards, and I am heavily involved in charity work, both locally and nationally. I believe in giving back to my community.
I am passionate about mental health and support for our young people and their families. I want to ensure that they have access to support providers and housing.
If elected as your local candidate I will make supporting jobs and opportunities in Braddon my number one priority. I will be focussed on cost of living and supporting our great Braddon community.
