Justin Derksen is a devoted family man, a skilled builder and has a passion for shaping communities. From crafting homes to creating opportunities, Justin's expertise in carpentry, joinery, tiling, and yes, even doughnut making, reflects his hands-on commitment to rural and regional Tasmania.

As a father of three, Justin intimately understands the importance of building a strong foundation for families. He doesn't just advocate for his community; he builds it, brick by brick.

With two decades of volunteering with the Australian Army Cadets and recent experience as a Ministerial Advisor for the Tasmanian Minister in the Veterans Affairs Portfolio, Justin's dedication to service is as solid as the structures he constructs.

Recently, Justin completed basic firefighting training as a Volunteer Firefighter for a rural Fire Brigade, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to community safety.

Justin’s community contributions were recognized when he was named joint Australian of the Year for the Derwent Valley in 2020. In 2022, he was elected to serve his community as a Councillor for the Derwent Valley Council.

Justin knows how to build and is dedicated to building the future of the community across Lyons; advocating for and believing in the limitless potential of rural and regional Tasmania.
