David O’Byrne’s latest embarrassing media release has proved once and for all that he simply cannot read a Budget.

Today’s Pre-Election Fiscal Outlook (PEFO) Budget statement clearly states that our record infrastructure spend, which has been impacted by the COVID shutdowns last year, will be down $116 million over the Budget and forward estimates (Table 4.1, Page 10), not $600 million as Mr O’Byrne falsely claims.

Even so, the building and civil construction sector are running at full capacity right now - exactly what we wanted - and a re-elected Liberal Majority Government will establish the hi-vis army to get even more done.

Our record $5 billion infrastructure program is already making a significant contribution to our State, and we have a clear plan to Secure Tasmania’s Future and continue this momentum.
