Jeremy is a proud North West Tasmanian.

His family have been farmers for five generations.

Growing up on the family farm at Sassafras gave Jeremy a love for rural life, and for community.

After matriculating in 1987, Jeremy worked as a farmhand on a cattle and sheep property near Hagley.

He went on to attain a Diploma in Farm Management at Lincoln University, New Zealand, before returning to Tasmania to manage the family’s mixed enterprise cropping and livestock property.

In 2016 Jeremy received the Lincoln Alumni International Medal.

As well as his work on the farm, Jeremy built strong links with public and community organisations.

His volunteering and community service has included roles with Lifeline North West, Natural Resource Management and Landcare groups, Youth and Family Focus – an organisation supporting homeless youth and alcohol and drug rehabilitation - and the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association.

In 2006, Jeremy was awarded Life Membership of Lifeline North West and in 2019 received a Life Membership of Lifeline Tasmania.

He has a long association with the Latrobe Football Club, of which he was President from 2006 to 2009.

In 2002, Jeremy was elected Member for Braddon.

In 2006 he was appointed Deputy Leader of the State Opposition and after the Liberals’ 2014 election win was appointed Deputy Premier.

Along with his role as Deputy Premier, Jeremy has held a variety of portfolios including Education and Training, Infrastructure, Primary Industries and Water, Health and Mental Health and Wellbeing, Community Services and Development, Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, Sport and Recreation and Racing.

Jeremy was appointed the 47th Premier of Tasmania in April 2022.

He also holds the portfolios of Tourism and Hospitality and Trade and Major Investment.

This year marks Jeremy’s 22nd year in the Tasmanian Parliament.

Jeremy is proud of his family and thankful for all the love, support, and encouragement provided by Sandra and their three girls – Ruby, Lucy, and Holly.

His vision for Tasmania is simple: a place where everyone feels valued, included, encouraged, and supported to be the very best they can be.
