Only a majority Gutwein Liberal Government is committed to providing elite level sporting content for Tasmanians to enjoy.
I welcome the New Zealand Breakers and Perth Wildcats to the Launceston Silverdome tonight as the National Basketball League returns to Tasmania for the first time since 2005.
The Breakers will make the Silverdome their “home away from home’’ after arriving in the State yesterday to begin their series of home games at the hub.
Tonight’s game will be a great advertisement for Tasmania with the game to be broadcast nationally and internationally on ESPN, Sky Sport New Zealand and SBS.
This exposure comes as international flights are set to resume between Tasmania and New Zealand later this month.
Tasmanian sports fans are in for a thrilling run of elite sporting content with the New Zealand Breakers home games to be followed by the Western United A-League home games at UTAS Stadium on Saturday 17th and Thursday 22nd of April.
The upcoming games at the Silverdome will serve as the perfect prelude for Tasmanian basketball fans ahead of the Tasmania JackJumpers NBL debut later in the year and I urge as many people as possible to get along to the Silverdome and join me in experiencing the spectacle of NBL basketball.
