Bridget Archer’s plan for Bass – Exeter Show and Recreation Centre

The Exeter community and the wider West Tamar region will have access to a new Show and Recreation Centre with $1.5 million in funding announced by Federal Member for Bass Bridget Archer.

Ms Archer said she has been meeting regularly with the Exeter Show Society over the past three years and has heavily advocated for the funds to secure the project for the community.

“The planned sports facility upgrade is an exciting project for the Exeter community and the wider region,” she said.

“The vision put forward by a dedicated and professional committee of volunteers will ensure facilities are brought up to date for wider community use.

“I have met regularly with the Show and Recreation Centre working group to hear the vision for upgraded facilities, particularly to cater for the rise in female sporting participation.

“I am impressed with what this will bring the region and am thrilled to see the hard work of those involved in the plans over the past few years come to fruition.”

The funding is in addition to $735,000 committed by the Tasmanian Government during the 2021 state election to finance plans as well as groundwork preparation and structural foundations.

The Exeter Show Society has been conducting the Exeter Show for more than 100 years.
