Tailored support for health and wellbeing in northern Tasmania

A re-elected Federal Liberal Government will invest $475,000 for Healthy Tasmania to increase services and community training to improve health, mental health and wellbeing in northern Tasmania.

$115,000 will be invested to deliver the Healthy Connected Communities program, which will deliver additional training packages for Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania to ensure they have the skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the community.

$360,000 will allow Healthy Tasmania to partner with the Northern Suburbs Community Centre to deliver an adventure therapy project that aims to help adults manage the impacts of trauma and improve their health and wellbeing.

Liberal Member for Bass Bridget Archer said that increasing health services so that people can lead happier, healthier lives was a key part of her plan for northern Tasmania.

“This investment will deliver additional services and training to empower vulnerable people to build their self-reliance and confidence,” Mrs Archer said.

“I am absolutely committed to working with great local organisations like Healthy Tasmania to make our community even better.

“Improving health and wellbeing in northern Tasmania has been a key focus for me throughout my time as the local member, and this investment is a further demonstration that the Liberals will deliver the programs and services that our community needs.

“Only a strong economy ensures that we can continue to make significant investments in health and wellbeing, and that is what we will continue to deliver for northern Tasmania if re-elected on Saturday.”

Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston said the Federal Liberal Government was absolutely committed to breaking down barriers for Australians to become self-reliant, participate in community activities, get a job and lead healthy and happy lives.

“This project will strengthen the capacity of these organisations to deliver the community care that is needed,” Minister Ruston said.

“It’s important people know where to access the assistance they may need and our Government is helping to provide the essential services across northern Tasmania.”

Only the Federal Liberal Government will continue to deliver a better future for Australians, and this is part of our plan to build a strong economy and a stronger future.
