“2030 Strong Plan” - Australia’s Largest Ever Campaign Billboard

Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff has revealed what is believed to be Australia’s largest ever election billboard, that’s twice the size of the MCG.

The Premier organised for a tractor to the back paddock of his mum’s farm in Tasmania’s North West at Sassafras, digging the campaign slogan “2030 Strong Plan” into the dirt.

The six hectare Paddock Billboard took 1.5 hours to plough, with the help of some GPS technology that’s typically used for precision agriculture and not political messaging.

Each individual letter measures around 40 metres high and about 30 metres wide, with the whole slogan spanning an estimated 350 metres in length.

By a country mile, the Paddock Billboard eclipses the typical election gimmick of a hat or a stubby holder.

In his typical style, the Premier also arrived at his campaign launch riding the same John Deer 8345R tractor, used to create the record setting, and hopefully election winning billboard.

A campaign spokesperson said that the down to earth billboard seemed fitting for the down to earth Premier:

“At your typical Australian political campaign launch, you’re in a stuffy conference room, with bright lights, a big stage and loud music.

“That’s just not Jeremy’s style. When his mum Gerry opened the farm gate to hosting the event at the farm where Jeremy grew up, it just seemed perfect.

“As his mum has said, he’s gone from running around the paddocks to running the state – and he’s never lost sight of where he came from.”
