Labor Leader Rebecca White has broken the law in her attempt to hide her party’s failure to provide Tasmanians with a proper economic plan.
Section 6 of the Charter of Budget Responsibility Act states:
The Leader of an Opposition party is to publicly announce a fiscal strategy statement.
The deadline was yesterday.
Ms White made no such announcement.
Her embarrassing shadow Treasurer instead tried to hide the party’s pointless statement, posting it on a Labor website in the dead of the night. The statement was from the wrong person and was well off-topic.
In breaching the Charter Act Ms White has thumbed her nose at a vital integrity measure designed to ensure Tasmanians have a clear understanding of each party’s economic plan.
Ms White sought to hide the Labor statement because it fails to rule out new taxes.
It’s clear Labor plans to fund their long list of uncosted promises by increasing taxes.
Tasmanians deserve better than a leader who fails to uphold important economic integrity standards to avoid scrutiny of her plan to impose higher taxes on Tasmanians.
