Labor outcast David O’Byrne has demolished Rebecca White’s fanciful claim she can renegotiate an AFL deal that doesn’t require a new Mac Point stadium.
In a thinly veiled attack on Ms White, O’Byrne told SEN the idea of getting such an agreement without having the clubs on board was ‘naive’.
And just in case anyone missed it, Mr O’Byrne repeated it: ‘naive’.
Mr O’Byrne’s slapdown came as he pointedly revealed he is not a locked-in vote for Labor in a minority government situation.
Mr O’Byrne has told today’s Weekend Australian he is open to ‘negotiating with both major parties’.
Mr O’Byrne believes ‘stability’ is the most important issue of this election.
For Ms White, the political pigeons are rapidly coming home to roost.
Her inability to build party unity and her obsession with internal Labor politics means she can’t rely on Mr O’Byrne for support.
Only a re-elected majority Rockliff Liberal Government can provide the stability and certainty Tasmania needs.
