Libs close the books on election spending

This weekend, the Liberals will close the books on spending commitments as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future

Treasurer, Michael Ferguson said that with one week to go, nearly all of the Liberals’ financial commitments have now been made.

Over the course of the campaign we have laid out the detail of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, in a carefully costed and fully funded manner.

Unlike Labor, we know that there is no magic money tree, and our opex investments are at only about 60 per cent of Labor’s spending - $ 659.57m compared to $1.02 BILLION.

Even that $1 billion is based on Labor’s own figures, and we know that it grossly undercounts their actual spending promises – for example, their energy promises would cost at least an additional $400 million.

In recent days, we have seen Labor even more careless with their costings and use of taxpayer’s money – yesterday saying of their Burnie Port promises that:

"While she did not have the exact figure, Ms White said she expected upgrades to be in the vicinity of a couple of hundred million dollars’ and required matching federal funding".

And of their funding commitment on redress today that:

"Labor hasn’t yet put a cost on the schemes but said it would 'work with affected communities to establish a panel once in government’ to determine appropriate amounts".

The truth is, a Labor-led minority Coalition of Chaos would wreck the budget, hike taxes and trash the state.

Only a majority Rockliff Liberal Government will keep Tasmania strong through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
