Securing the future of Ogilvie and New Town High Schools

A re-elected majority Gutwein Liberal Government will invest $20 million to upgrade facilities at Ogilvie and New Town High Schools to ensure students can enjoy modern state-of-the-art facilities following the move to co-ed from 2022.

Moving these schools to co-educational is the next phase of the Hobart City Partner Schools’ collaboration with Elizabeth College, increasing educational options for students and their families in the State’s south.

We have already committed $1.6 million in the State of the State for urgent works to be completed before the start of the 2022 school year, including new bathroom amenities and learning area upgrades.

If re-elected, our $20 million investment will lock in funding for medium and longer term requirements identified through the Hobart city Partner Schools Master Plan due later this year.

We expect this will include an upgrade to learning spaces, and creative or sporting facilities, along with other infrastructure upgrades to future-proof the schools.

These upgrades will ensure these vitally important schools can accommodate projected growth, and give students the best facilities possible to ensure learning into the future.
