Supporting our seniors

A re-elected majority Gutwein Liberal Government will provide significant support for Tasmanians as they grow older.

We will provide winter energy bill relief of $125 per household for eligible concession card holders, including those on the Age Pension. To further ease financial strain for older Tasmanians, we will also move to quarterly motor registration payments from 1 July 2021.

We will provide further support for heath, including:

  • Providing $156.4 million to deliver an extra 22,300 elective surgeries and endoscopies;
  • Delivering an additional 20,000 dental appointments across emergency dental, general dental and denture clinics;
  • Providing $52 million for in-home palliative and community-delivered health services and incentives for GPs, pharmacies and other primary health services to extend after hour services; and
  • Delivering $200 million for Stage Two of the RHH with new facilities including a neurology/stroke ward and Rapid Assessment Medical unit, fit-for-purpose Older Person’s Unit.
  • A majority Gutwein Liberal Government will commence planning for the next stages of the Elder Abuse Prevention Strategy and continue free bus travel on Metro buses for Tasmanian Seniors Car holders during Seniors Week.

    We will provide $175,000 over three years for Men’s Sheds across Tasmania and continue our 50 per cent discount to all Seniors Card holders for National Park access.

    These are just a few of the initiatives to be implemented by a re-elected majority Gutwein Liberal Government.
