Securing the future of the Northern Hockey Centre

If re-elected, a Gutwein Liberal Government will provide $750,000 towards the $1.5 million redevelopment of the Northern Hockey Centre (NHC) at St Leonards.

The Centre is over three decades old and fails to meet contemporary standards. The redevelopment will provide modern, fit for purpose facilities for the dozens of clubs and thousands of people who utilise them.

The current facilities have been assessed as unfit to host major events, and this upgrade will allow Hockey Tasmania to make applications to host national and international events at the NHC in the future. It will also support the growing participation levels in the sport.

The redevelopment will include improved disability access and refurbished changerooms, function centre and spectator areas.

We want to encourage and ensure as many Tasmanians as possible can participate in sport and lead active and healthy lifestyles.

Only a re-elected majority Gutwein Liberal Government has the clear plan to secure Tasmania’s future.
