Liberal candidate for Lyons, Susie Bower, has today announced that a re-elected Liberal Government will invest in new facilities at Boyer Oval to support female players and local teams.

Ms Bower confirmed that the Liberals are committing $1 million to the Boyer Oval Pavilion Project, an initiative of the Derwent Valley Council and Boyer Oval user groups.

“Boyer Oval is an important sporting facility for many teams in New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley.

I’ve listened to the community which has identified that the provision of appropriate changerooms for female teams and teams across various age groups is a clear need for now and into the future,” Ms Bower said.

“We want to make sure that women and girls, in particular, are supported and encouraged to play sport and providing appropriate female facilities is a critical part of that.

“The Council and Boyer Oval user groups have done a great job developing and putting forward the proposal for these upgrades, and the Liberals are backing it in.”
