PERTH TO RECEIVE $5 MILLION LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE BOOST

Residents of Perth will benefit from a $5.165 million commitment by Susie Bower and an elected Liberal Government to deliver recreational and infrastructure improvements to the town.

Perth is one of the fastest-growing areas in Tasmania. It is quickly becoming a location of choice for families who are looking for a relaxed lifestyle only 15 minutes from Launceston.

This investment, announced today by Liberal candidate for Lyons, Susie Bower, will deliver:

  • Drainage improvements for the Perth Recreation Ground;
  • Development of a bike pump track;
  • Improvements to footpaths and shared pathways; and
  • Stage Two of the South Esk River Parklands project.

“I remember in 2024 when the Perth Football Club had to abandon plans to host the finals series at the Recreation Ground due to flooding. These funds will help make sure there is not a repeat of that event,” Ms Bower said.

“This investment will also deliver better recreation facilities, and improve residents’ access to the South Esk River, enhancing the natural environment for residents and visitors.”

A pump track will be built on the western end of Perth’s Illawarra Road, and the shared pathways network will be extended from Oakmount Road to Haggerston Road and Youl Road.

Stage two of the South Esk River Masterplan includes a picnic shelter, toilets and playground, among other improvements to increase pedestrian access to the river.

Perth’s population increased by 35% between 2011-2021 and several large subdivisions are in the pipeline.

Only the Liberals have a plan to invest in our regional communities and get Australia back on track.
