A re-elected Federal Liberal Government will provide $15 million to deliver a Community, Aquatic, Health and Wellbeing Centre for George Town.
Federal Member for Bass Bridget Archer has been working with George Town Council to support the health needs of the local community.
“This is an important step towards a dedicated health-focused centre for the wider George Town community,” Mrs Archer said.
“The centre will include a 24-hour gym and fitness rooms, as well as an indoor and outdoor pool for recreational purposes and much-needed hydrotherapy services for the region.
“The centre will also provide low-cost consulting rooms for allied health and rehabilitation services. It will enable NDIS participants to better utilise their funding packages in George Town, meaning vulnerable members of the community can access services in the area.
“This is an important step forward for the future needs of our community and is part of my long-term plan for making services more accessible for all northern Tasmanians.”
