Liberals $5 million commitment sets the stage to revamp Burnie Arts and Function Centre

A re-elected Liberal Government will invest to deliver an enhanced Burnie Cultural Precinct in the heart of the coastal city.

Liberal Member for Braddon, Gavin Pearce MP announced that a re-elected Liberal Government would commit $5 million towards the refurbishment of the Burnie Arts and Function Centre.

“My Plan for Braddon is focused on delivering more investment to the communities in North West Tasmania to make the coast a great place to live and work,” Mr Pearce said.

“Located in the heart of Burnie, the Burnie Arts and Function Centre hosts local theatre productions, national music and arts performances, and school eisteddfods.

“The funding I have announced today will enable the Burnie City Council to undertake planned refurbishment works to reinvigorate the Burnie Arts Precinct, ensuring it can continue to host a broad range of art and cultural events into the future.

“I have made it my priority to fight for projects that invest in the future of Braddon. Since my election, more than 700 projects have been delivered across the region, injecting more than $1 billion into our local communities.

“Our funding commitment will not only benefit the Burnie region, but the broader arts and cultural community along the coast who utilise the facility hold performances and host events.

“Only a Liberal Government is able to make this commitment because we have built a strong economy, enabling us to invest to build a strong future for Tasmania.”
