All aboard for Don River Railway expansion project

A re-elected Federal Liberal Government will invest $10 million to upgrade and expand the Don River Railway.

Liberal Member for Braddon, Gavin Pearce said the Don River Railway was one of the North West Coast’s most recognised tourist attractions.

“Since it opened its doors in 1976, the Don River Railway has welcomed school groups, interstate and international tourists, and avid rail enthusiasts to step back in time and take a ride on historic steam engines,” Mr Pearce said.

“Our funding commitment will enable the Don River Railway to steam ahead with their planned expansion of tourism offerings at the largest heritage railyard in the southern hemisphere.

“It will also allow them to upgrade track infrastructure and redevelop visitor amenities, including the museum and café.

“The Don River Railway is home to Australia’s largest collection of steam locomotives, and funding will also facilitate the restoration of an extensive collection of steam locomotives and passenger carriages.

“The Federal Liberal Government is building a strong economy and a stronger future, and this investment will provide a huge economic boost for the local tourism industry.

“My plan for Braddon is focused on creating more local jobs, and this investment will create more jobs in the tourism sector right here on the North West Coast.

“I have delivered more than 700 individual projects across Braddon since being elected in 2019, and I plan to continue fighting for projects that invest in the future of Braddon.”

Only the Liberals have a plan to continue delivering a strong economy and a stronger future for the residents of Braddon.
