Liberal Plan for Braddon: Getting onside with Coastal Sporting commitments

A re-elected Morrison Government will provide $500,000 to deliver important upgrades to the McKenna Park Regional Hockey Centre and $480,000 to revitalise Cardigan Street Recreation Ground.

Liberal Member for Braddon Gavin Pearce said this funding would allow the Hockey Centre to refurbish their bar and kitchen area, clubrooms, relocate the kiosk, and purchase new furniture.

“With nearly 200 men, women and junior hockey players and more than 300 boys and girls participating in junior soccer competitions on weekends, upgrades are necessary to ensure the facility continues to meet demand,” Mr Pearce said.

“We are also committing $480,000 to enable the Waratah-Wynyard Council to complete the final components of the Cardigan Street Recreation Ground Master Plan.

“Our funding will improve playing facilities at the Recreation Ground, bringing the ground up to standard accommodate men’s, women’s and junior fixtures.

“With Australia set to host the Women’s Soccer World Cup in 2023, clubs are expecting to see a heightened interest in the sport, and our investment will ensure the Recreation Ground can cater for increased participation.

“Participating in team sport provides players with better health outcomes and important social benefits and the Government is committed to ensuring more people are encouraged to play in sporting competitions here on the coast.

“I have delivered more than 700 individual projects across Braddon since being elected in 2019, and I plan to continue fighting for projects that invest in the future of Braddon.”

Only the Morrison Government has a real local plan to deliver for the people of Braddon and to build a strong economy and a stronger future.
