Liberals’ plan for Bass: $6 million boost for Waverley

As part of my plan for Bass I am committed to supporting the manufacturing sector in the region.

Under the Federal Liberal Government’s Energy Security and Regional Development Plan, Waverley Mills will receive $6 million to support jobs and create a stronger future for Bass.

This is a great investment, because not only will it create jobs, it will help build capacity in the region and provide a chance for more people to gain new skills and new opportunities.

My plan for Bass is all about creating jobs and building a strong economy. Whether it’s through supporting hydrogen, farmers, small businesses with tax relief or helping iconic businesses like Waverley build a 21st century business, only the Liberals can make these investments because only the Liberals have a plan for our economy.

This funding announcement is in addition to the Liberal Government’s Plan for Modern Manufacturing which includes:

  • $2.5 billion under the Modern Manufacturing Strategy to support manufacturers to scale up, collaborate, commercialise and deliver on the world stage.
  • $2.2 billion for a ten-year University Research Commercialisation Action Plan, including $362 million under the Trailblazer University program to drive collaboration between industry and universities.
  • $69 million for a new Sovereign Manufacturing Automation for Composites Cooperative Research Centre to support Australian composite manufacturers to modernise and automate to gain a competitive edge.

Only the Liberals have a plan to create a strong economy and a stronger future for Bass.
