Day one of the campaign, and Bec White has failed a major test of her leadership, trying to dodge answering media questions.
Deputy Premier, Michael Ferguson, said Bec White and her team told media yesterday that the want-to-be-Premier would not be taking questions on other issues of the day. The media rightly pushed back.
"It is unheard of for a leader of an opposition to try to avoid media questions, especially during a campaign when Tasmanians deserve answers so they can decide who to vote for," Mr Ferguson said.
"Tasmanians deserve better than this.
"Ms White, here’s some free advice:
"Good leaders front up and answer the tough questions.
"Weak leaders try to avoid scrutiny, and questions from the media.
"How can you be Premier when you can’t even front for the tough questions."
