Vale Ryan Posselt's political career - or is it?

Wannabe Labor Candidate for Clark Ryan Posselt has talked a big game, having told anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path of his ambition to be a Labor candidate for Clark.

As recently as 5 February, Mr Posselt claimed on social media platform X that his "preselection is still pending".

Today, he has been left without a chair in Labor’s pre-selection roundabout.

Rumours are swirling.

Did Rebecca White personally phone Posselt offering him a dirty deal - if you stand down in Clark you can run for the Legislative Council seat of Hobart as the endorsed Labor candidate?

Under section 187 of Tasmania’s Electoral Act 2004, here, it is an offence to promise or offer any benefit with the intention of influencing a person’s election conduct at an election, whether or not the person nominates as a candidate for election, or withdraws his or her nomination.

This section packs penalties of up to two years’ imprisonment.

If the rumours are true, Ms White has some serious questions she must answer.

Did Ms White strike a deal with Mr Posselt offering him a spot as Labor’s Hobart candidate, in exchange for not running in Clark?
