The Rockliff Liberal Government has a 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's future.
A re-elected majority Liberal Government will make improvements at Scottsdale including a safer pedestrian crossing facility.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Michael Ferguson, said he was pleased to say that a re-elected majority Liberal Government will provide $50,000 to both Scottsdale and Exeter for pedestrian crossings – separate to the Vulnerable Road User Program (VRUP). This means it will not impact on their ability to apply for further funds through the program, nor will it impact on the investment available to other councils.
“The location of Scottsdale’s pedestrian crossing will be identified in consultation with the Dorset Council and Scottsdale community. Both King Street and George Street have been identified as candidate locations and the decision will be subject to expert advice,” Mr Ferguson said.
"We have already implemented the VRUP throughout the State, delivering $15 million so far on projects to improve pedestrian safety and also protect cyclists and children.
"Through this program, funding is provided directly to local councils who have the local knowledge of what’s required in their communities. We listen, on a daily basis. And we act. Not only during election campaigns.
"We are also in the process of investigating pedestrian crossings in other areas of the State, including Margate and Snug, through the 10 year Strategic Action Plan for the Channel Highway.
"Only a majority Rockliff Liberal Government will continue to deliver safer and more efficient roads for Tasmanians."
