Delivering more homes for more Tasmanians under our Strong Plan

A re-elected majority Rockliff Liberal Government will continue to deliver record housing for Tasmanians when they need it most.

Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, on top of our commitment to deliver 10,000 more social and affordable homes by 2032, we will introduce a number of new measures to put more roofs over the heads of more Tasmanians.

Minister for Housing and Construction, Nic Street, said that every Tasmanian deserves a stable roof over their head.

"We have been delivering a record number of homes, 3,000 over the past four years, but we know that we must do more," Minister Street said.

"Having a place to call your own simply cannot be understated. It gives a sense of purpose and security, and allows people to be the best they can be.

"This is why under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future a re-elected majority Rockliff Liberal Government will continue towards our ambitious goal of ending homelessness in Tasmania by 2043.

"We have an incredibly strong track record on this and will continue to provide more support, more accommodation and more houses than ever before."

Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's future we will:

  • Deliver our commitment to 10,000 more social and affordable homes by 2032, which increases housing supply, drives the Tasmanian economy, and activates jobs in our construction industry.
  • Set a new 'social housing only' target of 2000 more social homes by 30 June 2027.
  • Deliver up to 100 more Rapid Rehousing homes for women and children escaping family violence.
  • Unlock more affordable rentals by boosting our Private Rental Incentive Scheme, with an additional 200 homes.
  • Establish Key Development Coaches in our Safe Space facilities in each region.
  • Provide more support and funding for women and children at risk of, or experiencing homelessness.
  • Continue projects underway to address homelessness, provide more supported accommodation and delivering energy efficiency in social housing.
  • Provide increased funding to the peak body, Shelter Tasmania.
  • Deliver additional funding for maintenance and upgrades of social housing properties.
