East Coast health secure under Strong Plan

Under the Liberals' 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, the MayShaw Health Centre in Swansea will be given stronger support than ever before.

Minister for Health, Guy Barnett, said that a re-elected majority Rockliff Liberal Government will provide $600,000 towards the upgrade of the facility.

"Tasmanians in our regions shouldn't have to travel long-distances to access the healthcare that they deserve, and under our Strong Plan they won't have to," Minister Barnett said.

"By helping to ensure that there are contemporary, fit-for-purpose facilities in our regions we secure two key outcomes - greater staff retention and better treatment for Tasmanians.

"A win-win for anyone concerned and this is exactly what we will do here in Swansea."

Liberal Candidate for Lyons, Jane Howlett, said that providing better health outcomes for Tasmania's regions is a critical component under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

"Being able to take your sick loved ones to a doctor in the same town isn't just a matter of convenience, it can be life changing," Ms Howlett said.

"It means you can do the doctor visit, still make it to school or work, all while having that peace of mind that your community is supported by the healthcare that it deserves.

"I am proud that a re-elected majority Rockliff Liberal Government can and will continue to deliver the healthcare infrastructure that our regions need."
