Labor's costing an incomplete work of fantasy fiction

Labor’s long awaited election “costings” is the greatest work of fiction since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Labor’s Treasury spokesman should be nominated for the Nobel Prize for Fantasy Fiction rather than Economics.

Labor’s attempts to fool Tasmanians over their costings have reached a pathetic new low with a paper thin glossy brochure containing big statements and zero detail.

Already they had no credibility with their promises of everything to everyone. They now have no shame.

No wonder Dr Broad has done all he can to avoid scrutiny of his rubbery numbers.

$2 billion in promises are missing from Labor’s costings, including:

  • The $400 per household energy rebate- unfunded
  • Free school lunches - unfunded
  • 60 additional police and firefighters - unfunded
  • New Child care centres - unfunded
  • Housing promises - unfunded

Dr Broad does admit he is planning more than $2 billion in cuts, including a cut to health services of $172.9m

Embarrassingly, Dr Broad’s ‘Headline Number’ of savings don’t even match the figures later in his own document! (see image below).

If Labor’s figures could even be taken seriously, Tasmanians should brace for savage cuts to services, along with massive tax increases.

Only a re-elected majority Liberal Government’s Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future will ensure the stability, certainty, and sound economic management Tasmania needs.
