Up to 90 per cent of Tasmanian taxpayers will benefit from the Coalition’s $1,200 Cost of Living Tax Offset, member for Bass, Bridget Archer said today.
“Based on current Tamanian average median weekly earnings of around $63,000, up to 90 per cent of Tasmanian taxpayers will benefit from the Coalition’s $1,200 Cost of Living Tax Offset,” Ms Archer said.
“The Coalition’s Cost of Living Tax Offset will provide real and tangible tax relief to Tasmanians doing it tough under Labor’s crushing cost of living price increases.
“The $1,200 Cost of Living Tax Offset equates to around $23 per week back into your pocket under a Dutton Coalition Government.
“For a household with two taxpayers, the benefit could be up to $2,400 – or up to $46 per week.
“This is more than four times as much as Labor’s 70 cent a day tax cut in 15 months’ time.
“It should never be forgotten that one of the first acts of Labor after they were elected in 2022 was to cancel the Coalition’s Low and Middle Income Tax Offset, which provided a tax offset of up to $1,080 for people earning up to $126,000 per year.
“Along with our immediate 25 cents per litre fuel tax cut, only the Coalition has a real plan to provide genuine cost of living relief to Tasmanians.”
If elected, the Coalition’s Cost of Living Tax Offset will be applied automatically when you lodge your tax return for the upcoming financial year.
